Sir, We Meant Tact, Not Tack
UPDATE: It wasn't me:
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has denied buying a RM30 million boat as reported by a newspaper in Turkey recently."The report is inaccurate. It is a lie. I don't know where it got such facts," he told reporters here when asked to comment on a newspaper report that he went to Bodrum in Turkey recently to see the boat which he ordered four months ago.
Abdullah said he would ask the newspaper to make a correction.
...
"I was in Turkey but did not see the boat," he said ... [Bernama]
He describes Hurriyet's report as inaccurate and a lie, but the only thing that Abdullah actually denies here is seeing the boat, and the only thing that he wants of the newspaper is a correction, not an apology and a retraction.
The Prime Minister needs to do better than that.
Maybe something along the lines of "no, I have neither bought a boat nor ordered one to be built. And nobody has bought one or ordered one to be built for me."
Pretty simple and straigthtforward, don't you think?
***** *****
When he comes back from wherever he is now, our Prime Minister needs to explain a few things to us.
Did he commission a Turkish boatbuilder to build a boat for him at a cost of US$8 million?
If so, who is paying for it?
If the Prime Minister is forking out his own money, then where did he get the money?
Don't be quick to jump to conclusions.
For all we know, rich son Kamaluddin might be the one footing the bill.
As long as it's not anyone else, it should be OK. In a way. I think.
ON ANOTHER NOTE, I long to see us having a "commoner" for a Prime Minister.
We have never had one before.
It's unlikely we will have one in the foreseeable future.

Hello Aisehman
I asked the same questions but I disagree with your comments that it is 'OK' if the money is from rich son Kamaluddin.... If we 'extend' the source of where the rich son gets his money from, it is also indirectly from the rakyat - afterall it is his 'connection' that has given Scomi the various contracts with govt. linked companies particularly Petronas... and the service fees are at very inflated levels so that a big chunk can be put aside for the rich son to pay for the very expensive boat....

My immediate reaction to this "Mahai!!!!"
ACA should pay Pak Lah a visit to check where on earth he got that money to buy such luxury yacht. This is making so sick that I want to puke on Pak Lah 's face. Work with me my ass!

What kind of a 'boat' need RM8 million?! Rather than spending millions on a boat, might as well donate to those who need it BADLY.

Clark Gable Of Pulau Duyong Signing In:
Harap2 my comment come out like a pantun
PANTUN KAPAL LANUN
Kapal Lanun belayar malam,
Sarat muatan hasil melanun,
Kalau jiwa segelap malam,
Kain cabis secantik tenunan.
Kemudi kapal terusuk tembaga,
Layar dipasang menempuh gelora,
Selagi sihat jiwa dan raga,
Hentam lincin segala terdaya.
Kapal lanun mundik kehulu ,
Tempat selamat sembunyi rampasan,
Lupe segala janji dahulu,
Konon hidup semulia insan.
Usup layar kemenyan batu,
Sauh diikat tali tuasan,
Kerje melanun memang begitu,
Makan melahap tidak kepuasan.
Layar kebat bertngkat satu,
Angin meniup menuntun laju,
Emperor baru tiade sepatu,
Hidup berbogel disangka berbaju.
Angin monsun bertiup kencang,
Kapal terumbing dibawa ombak,
Rakyat susah tiade dibincang,
Derita perit buat pekak.

Somebody better tell AAB not to play mind games. Coz he doesn't have it in him to do so.
We know the luxury yacht won't be ready till next year, hence, he need not confirm this fact.
Can he explain his presence in Turkey (apart from the fishing trip with AK) when Venezuela is in another part of the globe?
Wouldn't it be lovely if we can somehow post monthly W.I.P. photos of 'Cobra Sultan' being built.

actually the nation gotten a wrong person to be his PM...
sad to say, the PM is much monkey-ier than a monkey.
let the monkey sail in its yacht and get eaten by tsunami for all its wrong-doings and unjust treatment over its popoulation.
its a monkey, what can you expect!

pak Lah has lied before on national TV about his son. Yeah he didn't see the boat, we know that, not ready mah, how to see? Yes his son bought the boat, ooops yatch..that could be the other spin. Yeah mahhis son won all the contracts on open tender and some more from over the sea, never mind they were Petronas jobs.
Hidup rAPidah!!! Malaysia Bodoh!!!
Hidup Pak Lah!!! Mampus Malaysia!!!
Hidup KJ!!! Maju Singapura!!!
Malaysia Boleh...Lingkup!!!
Wonder when his family will buy private jet? Than they can make side trip everywhere and hopefully Msian don't need to bear the cost.

The boat was purchased as a gift for the recent MEASAT contract.

We have a supper smart PM, he knew Johore (And all of Malaysia?) is going to be flooded and already got a yacht to visit Malaysia 2007......
Posted by: ET at December 22, 2006 12:15 AM
he said he didn't see or know anything about the boat. Period. He was onboard of a boat-ferry much similar to the one shown by Jeffooi in his blog.
Somebody else may have bought for him. That's the amount of payment for working with him.
Let's check how many PMs in the world have the privilige of owning a yatch. Positively, we should be proud. Negatively, corruption will never end.
