Got this pointer from one of the comments on Rocky's Bru.
It's from a Q&A with K S Jomo published in Aliran Monthly in 2004, just before the general election in which we stupidly gave Pak Lah a massive landslide victory:

Q: You mean Kamal Abdullah Badawi, who was in charge of selling male contraception for Sime Darby?

Is there any truth to this?
Pak Lah only mentioned the bit about Kamal being a lawyer and being involved in oil and gas.
If it's true, there's nothing to be ashamed of, really.
Condoms and oil and gas have at least on thing in common -- they both involve some form of drilling.

rotfl! you really cracked me up with your last sentence, aisehman.
this post also reminds me of the trial of jesus by pontius pilate, when he was crucified.
when pililate asked jesus "are you the king of jews then"?, jesus replied "you said that".
and when pilate said something about truth, jesus answered "truth? what is truth?"
nope i'm not drawing a parallel between jesus and badawi but between jesus' trial and this post.

Why would a lawyer sell condoms. Perchance no legal firm would take him? Hard to believe that esp. with an `influential` father.
Or was he debarred. Another mystery.

Aisehman,
U got me floored with the drilling bit.The subconcious mind were developed during childhood and early part of one's career.
Knowing intimately the requirement needed for successful drilling has put Kamaruddin in good footing to launch him into one of 10 richest malay within three short years.
It make me wonder why all those mamak on the 5footway selling condom didnt draw similar inspiration and get themselves involve in drilling biz.
