A Cut Above The Rest
Ok dudes. Before I go further into this post, I would like to state here that I am not in any way trying to preach or claim the "superiority" of any religion or religion-related practices.
Cool? Read on:
Circumcision appears to reduce a man’s risk of contracting AIDS from heterosexual sex by half, United States government health officials said yesterday, and the directors of the two largest funds for fighting the disease said they would consider paying for circumcisions in high-risk countries. The announcement was made by officials of the National Institutes of Health as they halted two clinical trials, in Kenya and Uganda, on the ground that not offering circumcision to all the men taking part would be unethical.
The success of the trials confirmed a study done last year in South Africa.
AIDS experts immediately hailed the finding. [The New York Times]
How so?
Uncircumcised men are thought to be more susceptible because the underside of the foreskin is rich in Langerhans cells, sentinel cells of the immune system, which attach easily to the human immunodeficiency virus, which causes AIDS.The foreskin also often suffers small tears during intercourse.
But bear in mind that it is not a cure-all:
Dr. Mark Dybul, executive director of President Bush’s $15 billion Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, said ... it was only one new weapon in the fight, adding, “Prevention efforts must reinforce the A.B.C. approach — abstain, be faithful, and correct and consistent use of condoms.”
Other related benefits of male circumcision:
Male circumcision also benefits women. For example, a study of the medical records of 300 Ugandan couples last year estimated that circumcised men infected with H.I.V. were about 30 percent less likely to transmit it to their female partners.
Earlier studies on Western men have shown that circumcision significantly reduces the rate at which men infect women with the virus that causes cervical cancer.
A study published in 2002 in The New England Journal of Medicine found that uncircumcised men were about three times as likely as circumcised ones with a similar number of sexual partners to carry the human papillomavirus.
See it as an added level of protection.
I agree with Dr Dybul above.
Abstain. Be faithful. But if you don't want to, then always, always use a condom. And consider getting circumcised.

Aisehman: Aren't you inadvertently promoting the sale of condoms, and thereby enriching a certain well-known condom salesperson in the process ?

Dude, someone from your previous post could get very rich from this post.
Pity circumcision has not really helped the other head of some of those in power in Malaysia.
It helps prevent AIDS, it also prevents thinking except with the little head.
But I do agree with Dr. Dybul and I think he agrees with our stand too on using condoms.

I hear circumcision also helps a man's staying power, due to the years of the rubbing of the exposed glans against the underwear/boxer shorts/jeans.
With all these benefits going for it, its a wonder why not more people proselytise, eh?

The uncircumcised penis is God creation. If GOD had wanted it circumcised it will be so but most likely explanation is GOD is imperfect.
What do you expect of an imperfect God with all his prophets and holy books available for mankind to put it right. Still think there is a perfect holy book?

Aiyahhhh.....there’s no religious sensitivities here lah.
This is a health issue, nothing more …nothing less. Various studies and research can give you the pros and cons of circumcision. As is often the case, there will be proponents and critics on the subject matter in question. As an example, your readers can refer to the "Circumcision Resource Center" http://www.circumcision.org/advocates.htm
But if it is gonna makes you feel better ‘co-incidently’ just because a recent study on circumcision lends weight to your religious practice, do so. Conversely if some of the studies indicate otherwise, don’t rush to point the finger at them and try to discredit them.

dear yum,
doctors do not use scissors for circumcision anymore. nowadays, the normal method is rubber bending and a ring.
if u really need to save some money, u can always buy rubber bends from mydin and tie up your choon toi.

Lig ling chat curiously inquired,
"like that i also wan to cut my 'choon-toi' lah, but the scissor can potong my 45 old skin or not???"
Can, can. what more 45 yr old skin, 45 x 2 yr old skin oso can easily cut.
As for endurance, that is terpulang to your nafas. Or if you like, depends on whether you are a 'sprinter' or a 'marathoner' by default.

Haha, the older you are being 'Zhng'-ed of your skin, the more painful it is for you to recover. You have to practically wear Sarong the full week.
But after you've circumsized, it's true your senses will be numb and hence your staying power is better. however, if you want to perform DIY, it might not be as satisfying, cos the skin is not there for the stimulation - if you know what i mean.
Aisehman, think you should have an age limit or disclaimer for your viewer now. ha!

This one`s for PORIM to follow:
Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality. That's why most of the medical (not socio-spiritual) blame for today's rise in homosexuality must fall upon the rise in soy formula and other soy products. (Most babies are bottle-fed during some part of their infancy, and one-fourth of them are getting soy milk!) Homosexuals often argue that their homosexuality is inborn because "I can't remember a time when I wasn't homosexual." No, homosexuality is always deviant. But now many of them can truthfully say that they can't remember a time when excess estrogen wasn't influencing them.

Will it go like this when boy meets girl?
BOY: "You are so beautiful, I want to take you home right now and make love to you."
GIRL: "Whoa! Down boy. Are you cut or uncut?"
Sex and the 21st century... it is so a matter of fact.

g*d made us uncircumsised so that He can see who will cut off foreskin for g*d's sake.
btw at sipm we've always advocated the fanatical use of condoms.
just don't recycle it like the singaporean.

God is perfect. God commanded Jewish males to be circumcised for a reason. It is a religous rite that signify the entry of the newborn into the promised land.
For the above reason, Jews never performed circumcision for health reasons but rather as a Divine command. Therefore, Jews wore circumcision as a badge of honor to separate them from non-Jew.
I reckon that God commanded the Jews to circumcise because He has a convenant with them. Circumcision is an effective way for the Jews to remember their convenant with God. Every time they look or touch their circumcised penis,(every time they urinate or have sex) they are supposed to remember God and His convenant with them.

Lower risk of AIDS with circumsision ? No thanks man, condom is still the best and proven protection. Better to play safe.

harvard business school people have done some economic analysis along the same line of thinking.
"Medical researchers have found significant evidence that male circumcision can reduce the risk of contracting HIV. We find that national male circumcision rates for African countries are both a strong predictor of HIV/AIDS prevalence and uncorrelated with other determinants of economic outcomes."

but i agree with williamtan2020, 'Better to play safe'. 'Lower risk' is simply not good enough when it comes to something as dangerous as AIDS.
i just hope that PAS n gang would not have any illusion that they could substitute the need to wear condoms with betting on circumcision alone, in the midst of a euphoria of rejoicing in 'yet another' proof that islamic practices (copied from the jews) r scientifically 'sound'.
u know, given that they thought they could substitute the real disco with 'segregated dance floor' for male n female, but oblivious to the not-so-obvious, BIGGER evil - of turning kota bahru into the next san francisco...

(well, i guess at least u can't accuse the PAS gang for being homophobic...)
