Paying For The Idiocy Of Others

This is news to me:

[Samy Vellu] had said earlier that the government would foot the RM40 million cost of repairs [on the MRR2 flyover] and claim the cost from the contractors of the flyover. [Bernama]

We -- yes, it's our money, not the Government's -- pay first and claim later?

When we gonna get it back?

Do the contractors even have that much money to pay us?

One thing I remember from economics class is that money in the hand is better than money you'll get later.

The thing that gets to me is that there would have been no need for this expenditure if the bloody thing had been built properly in the first fucking place.

BTW The cost of the repairs is equivalent to LESSUP133.33 million. [What's a LESSUP?]

In my secondary school economics class, the first lesson we learnt was when money from a student's pocket was stolen and was placed in the thief's pocket who was another student in the same classroom, the class as a whole did not lose any money because the money was still in the class. Only one student suffered a personal loss to another student. Malaysia as a whole did not lose any money. Only the peoples' pockets content went into the politically connected and some whitemen consultants and workers who will spent some to have a jolly good holiday in Malaysia.

Aisehman,
Deep in my heart I beleive S Vellu has have enough. He has made enough for himself, and he has screwed up big times. I am so sure he would want to quickly disappear from all the shits he has made and stirred.

What is holding him back? He needs to wait for his turn to be get his TUNship!!!!!!!!! This will cover up his ass legally, when he is no more in his current untouchable position.

Think I am joking? Just take a look at the 2 former "big-shots" that have screwed up big time and stepped down.

And since TUNships can not be created, S Vellu will step down, soon after, and if my beloved Kampung mate, the Tun former DPM is call upon by god.

Eventually we have to pay for mistakes of our leaders. The problem with representative government is that it makes the citizen feel detached from their government. Our leaders are supposed to serve us (i.e., we are their boss) and if they fail, we are supposed to be able to hold them accountable. Instead in Malaysia, our leaders work for themselves (they act like they are the boss of us) and when they fail, they can tell us to go to hell. They are like nightmare workers. If they really work for someone, then most of them would be fired already.

Hold your horses folks...

Let's not just "lepas steam" and turn this respectable blog into another Screenshots.

I am mad at hell over the MRR2 fiasco. But perhaps I am less mad than others as I know a bit more than the average guy on the street.

You see the whole fiasco started because the previous administration has allowed unrelated people (example Home and Finance Ministries) to award contracts to undeserving but politically well connected individuals. Unfortunately Samy Vellu cannot come out and disclose this publically and has to face the heat for something that he wasn't responsible. It was the same in the issue of the East Coast Highway when Samy Vellu was lambasted over the defects while the real culprit went unpunished.

I think we need to be a bit more matured and refrain from shooting from the hips at the first opportunity when something that we don't like comes up.

Samy is not my favourite politician but he is one of the most hardest working ministers. For all his faults (shooting from the hips, being a loose cannon, etc), he has done a lot for the country... You don't believe me...ask anyone from the Works Ministry.

Note: I don't know Samy Vellu personally or professionally.I am neither his supporter nor a MIC member.
