John Teo sings Effendi Norwawi's praises in his column in the NST.
It seems Mr Tiara Jacquelina is a Minister of "pure talent and proven technocratic skills."

Someone remind me of our country's achievements when Effendi was in charge of agriculture and an "education envoy".

In the old days, artists have patrons. Today writers because of publicity generation also have patrons. Effendi did not have the privilege of an Umno membership because the party has not been invited to set up shop in Sarawak yet. Since he was targeted as a window dressing to make up the minor quota for Sarawak and East Malaysia in the ruling pantheon of Malaysia, having a glamourous better half could be advantagous. Sarawak's Curtin University campus from Australia in Miri is set to be a leading tertiary institution in Miri, Malaysia with an international population of professors and students from all over the world lending prestige to Sarawak and Malaysia and saving a lot of costs for Bruneians and Sabahans across the border. East Malaysia is the country's largest plantation of cash crops like oil palm, cocoa and is expected to be a food basket for Malaysia in future, God and migrant workers willing.
