Cabinet Reshuffle

These are the people who will lead us into the future?

No. These are the people who will have a say over who gets to eat what when the new national menu - the Ninth Malaysia Plan - is unveiled, sometime next month.

So what did you expect?

Did I hear you say more?

Oliver Twist wants more!?!

It was reported that there would be less money in the 9th M Plan. Prices with GST would be burdensome. I don't look forward to an oppressive tax regime. Have mercy.

Personally I am disappointed.

Of course I wasn't expecting veterans such as Rafidah or Samy Vellu to be dropped. Malaysians have a very short memory. Despite all their weaknesses, these two are the most dedicated and hardest working ministers we have.

But I was expecting and hoping that some of the under-performing (and non-performing) ministers to go. Pak Lah by now should have enough powerbase to wield the big stick. However, this turned out to be a very minor re-shuffle.

People complain about the lack of pace in the reform but I can understand the challenges that Pak Lah faces. Many of the problems cannot be solved by changing policies or laws. It requires changes in mindset. This takes time. I can accept this. But I was hoping that at least Pak Lah will bring in new blood whom share Pak Lah's vision and plans for the country. A lot of people in the cabinet clearly out of alignment with the PM. I don't want to name names, we know them.

Or Perhaps Pak Lah has something up his sleeves...
