The Lie Of The Land

Another Agenda Daily interview, this time with 37-year old Putera Umno head Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.

The good Datuk is currently plagued by rumours that there is more (or less, depending on your viewpoint) to the man than meets the eye.

Azeez denies it of course. But let me select some highlights from the interview and then show you a few things:

"I became a millionaire through the used car trade by the time I was 21."

"In 1997 there was an economic crisis ... and that time I had about 1,000 cars ... the currency flunctuated ... car prices nose-dived."

"In believe in the Kun Fayakun chapter (in the Quran), where God says 'Be, and it is.'"

"The university I studied in was not some fly-by-night university.. it is among the oldest universities in the US - Preston University in Wyoming ..." [Agenda Daily]

And finally, the clincher:

"I am not lying ... why should I lie?"

Azeez is too clever by half.

First of all, there is no such chapter (surah) called Kun Fayakun in the Quran.

That's OK, because it just shows ignorance.

But here are excerpts from an interview with The Sun. Read it carefully:

With my SPM education and experience in business, I did my Masters in Business Management and Administration in one of the universities in the United States.

... My parents were from Baling, Kedah and I decided to do some charity work through the mosques there in the late 90s even though I was a PJ boy all the while.

I was elected treasurer for Belia 4B in Kedah in 1998.

Slowly, I became involved in the Baling Umno Youth division, and now I am the division head there and national youth exco member and also the chairman for 4B in Baling.

... I started (in business) at the age of 18, with a lot of ups and downs. After that, I bought the late Sultan of Selangor's company, Wilayah Arm, and through this company, I moved up and started providing assistance to the needy, especially orphans and the poor.

At that time, with my SPM qualification and my work experience, I decided to pursue a masters in business management and administration in the United States.[The Sun: Tough nut sets pace for Putera]

The truth is, Preston University in Wyoming is not "among the oldest" universities in the US - it is probably among the the newest, being only about 10-years old.

According to its website, the university was established in 1994, and held its first graduation ceremony in 1997.

It is inconceivable that a Preston graduate could mistakenly describe the university as "one of the oldest".

And when did Azeez "millionaire-at-21" Rahim study at Preston?

When Azeez was 21 (16 years ago), Preston had not even been set up yet.

Azeez could only have enrolled, at the earliest, sometime in 1994/95, when he was about 27-years old.

But when Preston graduated its pioneer class of students in 1997, Azeez was, in his own words in the Agenda Daily interview, busy trying to salvage his failing car business.

Does all this gel with his explanations given in the two interviews?

What is fucking going on here?

Google "Preston University" + "diploma mill", and it gets even better.

In a nutshell, and in all probability, Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, recently appointed head of Putera Umno and - this just gets to me - executive chairman of Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia - is a fake, just like his degree.

Surprised? You shouldn't be.

This is Umno we're talking about here.

Malaysia Boleh!

Hidup Putera UMNO! Hidup Datuk Azeez! (kalau Datuk tu bukan palsu lah)

PakLah must have utter the words "kunfakun" and there be it this one Abdul Azeez !!!. lol. Complete with MBA.

With these kind of character and attributes, wonder how far can he lead this Putera wing. With characters like gangsta, he might get the quantity but not the quality puteras.

Pity my fellow Malays race. In the current UMNO approach, they are only interested to grow big in their own cocoons only.

During TDMM era, he groomed corporate figures like Amin Shah, Tajuddin Ramli, Halim Saad, just to name a few. TDMM hoped that these few corporate figures would in turn groom another 10 successful Malays at least. Then these 10 groom another 10 and so on.

With people like Azeez, I can only see another 10 presently successful businessmen will be brought down.

Hope I am wrong.....but this can only be attested in the next millenium may be.

In U.NO, they do everything to gain power and position. They can even sell their dead grandfather to lend credit to their lies.

mrBIG: "With people like Azeez, I can only see another 10 presently successful businessmen will be brought down"

Nolah mrBIG, with Azeez, he will grow 10 more thug-businessmen, and they in turn will grow 10 more thugs... etc.

I believe Preston U is one that many would describe politely as a "grey" standard U, a euphemism for diploma mill. SPM and then on to Master's?

The content of the interview is so UMNO-like, as though it is UMNO-branded. One of the superbrands, if you don't mind!

Ha Ha. Aisheman, if what you pointed out is true, I did not check the facts myself and I have no reason to doubt your 'research', I gotta marvel in awe how stupid and careless can this Azeez be. You know, if you set up your mind to deceive the world, (and for the record, I am not condoning his action ..), the least you can do is to do some research and get your facts right. What is the difference between a genius and a moron? Genius has its limits.

There are many people who uses paper certification as license to bullshit.

Not that those without them don't do the same.

But I suppose it is the amount of people it impresses is reduced substantially.

Afterall, the ignorant masses can't really tell the difference.

Some comments.

"I became a millionaire through the used car trade by the time I was 21."
What was he trying to say? That he is the biggest, baddest, meanest sales guy? That he is an excellent human being?

"In 1997 there was an economic crisis ... and that time I had about 1,000 cars ... the currency flunctuated ... car prices nose-dived."
And his point is...

"In believe in the Kun Fayakun chapter (in the Quran), where God says 'Be, and it is.'"
It's always nice when people quote from the Holy Quran, walaupun maybe haram tak baca pun. It makes you feel warm inside and your heart glows like a nuclear power plant.

"The university I studied in was not some fly-by-night university.. it is among the oldest universities in the US - Preston University in Wyoming ..."
What university again?

And finally, the clincher:
"I am not lying ... why should I lie?"
There is such a thing called PINK ELEPHANT. Read between the lines :)

Posted by: the kimster at August 3, 2005 04:45 PM

Azeez ia a liar ... its okay to be a liar but this Hishammuddin is a bloody fool stupid for chosing Azeez and mind you he is a full minister.

Posted by: ajeeman at August 3, 2005 05:56 PM

Truly amazing! So this is how they choose/appoint 'new' leader(s)' who out of 'loyalty' will be subservient to the upper echelons. These 'new' leader(s) will , of course, recruit others who are basically the same 'material' hereby perpetuating an endless cycle of 'mindless/spineless' ....
Guyz, I am watching LOTR1/2/3 (extended versions) again tonight. Maybe, Gollum might have the answer to our plight. Naaw..I don't think so.

According to this
http://gowyld.net/wyoming/education.html
Tuere are only 2 accredited universities in Wyoming - Uni of Wyoming & Western Governors Uni.

Deeper in that siie http://www.k12.wy.us/ao/f/programs/psl/degree.html , there's a list grey universities. Apparently Wyoming is a favoured destination for these sorts of "institutions". I'm surprised the Irish Internatinal University doesn't have a branch there.

Posted by: shag at August 4, 2005 11:04 AM

lies, lies, lies. Azeez, being an ex used car salesman, i'm not surprised with all his lies. that's what most used car dealers are good at.

what's wrong with our people today. if u have no degree, juz say so or don't say anything at all. no one is gonna ask u anyway. but y dis fella have to lie. it looks like UMNO is now full of corrupted idiots. where the country is heading with all dis guys up there; only GOD knows.

Posted by: amazesing at August 4, 2005 12:39 PM

Thanks Angenda Daily and Sun. This is just scary and funny. May be he got lost in Yellowstone National Park. It is the oldest in the US. Used-car salesman turn politician - can't even imagine such a person.

Posted by: rhomer at August 4, 2005 01:02 PM

Used car salesman turned politician? Just the perfect experience!!!!! No wonder he is so "successful" hohohoho. God save Putera!

Posted by: susmaryosep at August 4, 2005 01:14 PM

Sigh... no wonder Malaysia movie industrial go "gulung bantal". With this kind of politikus in our country, you don't need movie.

Posted by: moo_t at August 4, 2005 04:24 PM

Please don't let this issue up 'till it spills into mainstream news. He first raised my eyebrow a while ago in The Sun interview.

In it he refers too highly of himself every chance he got that made me think he's overcompensating for the lack of bona fide achievements.

The conversation style mainly consist of strutting around, admiring himself, with spatters of self-praise macam "Mr. Wonderful", Paul Orndorff or The "Nature Boy", Rick Flair.

His unusually rapid ascent and the surely coming descent somehow reminds me of "The Great Gatsby" pretender/protagonist, except in this case without the same success, style and deftness. And oh, in the shape of a San Fernando Valley porn producton starring the unusually smarmy Ron Jeremy.

Ridiculous, even for UMNO.

Question is though, why didn't Pak Lah as party President make it his business to do a background check on the leader of a newly-formed party wing?

How far removed is he from real power?

Posted by: astounded at August 4, 2005 04:57 PM

I dont know why we should worry though. Overall I think this is good. Only further erodes our respect and shows the true colours of politicians. In the end they are all the same, whatever race or religion. I think some of the religious authorities of Indonesia was correct to think that they should stay out of politics. It only cheapens Islam. Sadly I think this is now changing in Indonesia as well as the more Muslims are taking affirmative action in politics. Then the crap surfaces. It would take another generation as the religious figures take command and then proceed to screw up the country. Look at Iran.

If kunfayakun is from Surah Yassin then its true that its from the Quran. Surah Yassin is from the Quran.

So people, please move on from this controversial kunfayakun issue and focus on what's not on the table yet, i.e. What Azeez have to got to say in his defence, Will he be stripped off his position, etc.

"Putera basically provides the avenue and platform for youths to interact and be involved in programmes initiated by us to be leaders of their own. People should not be afraid of us." - theSun Weekend June 24: 'Tough nut' sets pace for Putera

I find it quite funny why he would think people are scared of PUTERA UMNO. Is it because people know that the head is "brutal and a person with a laser mouth", as described in the same interview?

I hope Putera UMNO will not turn into an extreme malay youth movement with a violent mindset in trying to curb social ills and rehabilitate delinquents.

Is there a hidden agenda behind Putera UMNO? Is it acting as proxy to the infamous controversial Kesatuan Melayu Muda (KMM) (or whatever it's called)

A leader must not have a mind of a street fighter/punk/thug/robin hood/gangster, should they? We don't want another "May '69" or "Kampung Medan" incident, do we?

Is Azeez a pure Malay? I doubt. Usually those who have mixed blood are good at twisting toungue, inventing issues to catch public attention as their fuel to climb up the political ladder.
Who else is of that category? Our minister who has bow-tie obssession?

I doubt very much Datuk -million-air-at-21 Rahim u8nderstands what our Mr. Aisehman has deliberated. With his standard of education,SPM? he could not comprehend the commentary leave alone answering the Aisehman to tell the truth.

With this kind of clown character leading young umno men?

I think a mountain is leaning upon the umno hose to collapse anytime.

every thing was said abt that gang mamak member was correct...it is true that azeez was x car salesman...operating in pj area...it was true that he spent a lot in order to secure a position in umno...but i wonder why he chose Baling as his base when he himself is not from Baling...but i know for sure that he was brought to Kedah by one known as Pak Da ...but who is Pak Da then...just a simple guy perhaps not even an Umno member himself...Come on Pak Lah if you really want Umno to be respected...please ask your Youth chief to do some homework...please check the background of those who aspire to be 'leaders' in your party...you may detail sb officers to check their backgrounds...our sb officers are very happy to do that ...and my last advice is please don't allow an along cum gangster cum pirate vcds/cds manufacturer to head a youth organisation...i'm afraid your Putra would end up as and organisation comprising of Putar Alams heheheh
